Dr. May-May Chan grew up with her parents, brother and sisters in Oakland. She graduated from UC Davis with her BS in Food Science. She then followed in her brother's footsteps by attending the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, earning her Doctor of Optometry degree.

After graduating from optometry school, Dr. Chan returned home to California. While working in Oakland, she met her future husband.

Dr. Chan is bilingual and has been practicing in the Bay Area for over 28 years. She is proficient to give comprehensive eye exams in Cantonese. Clinical experiences include examining Veterans at Fresno VA Medical Center, providing bedside eye exams in nursing homes and working with a non-profit organization which offers free eye exams and free glasses to low income families' children in public schools throughout the Bay Area.

When Dr. Chan is not taking care of patients, she is spending quality time with her husband and
their three children. In her free time, she loves cycling and playing with her dog, Snoopy.
